Where can you buy neutral henna for hair, and how do you use it?

I want my hair to grow fast from a bad cut that I had to get due to a bad straightener that made my hair too soft and thin and it won't hold a style now. Also, can henna be used on top of hair that's been color treated??

Where can you buy neutral henna for hair, and how do you use it?

I use henna quite a bit in my hair. I dye mine a deep red and I really like how natural it looks. I will say it is a pain in the butt! It smells like grass for a few days and it stains just about anything it touches! But It is much better for you hair then chemical treatments. It can not be used over chemically treated hair. First, boil water. Get a good size bowl. I use a metal one because it doesn't stain it. Make sure your hair is dry. Depending on how long and thick your hair is you can tell how much you need. I get 4 oz bottles of henna and use just about the whole thing. My hair is kinda thin and a little longer then where my shoulders are. Once the water boils add it to the henna. It should be a little thicker then cream. Put lotion or vasiline all along your hairline and on and in your ears! I know it sounds weird but it helps it from staining your head! When the henna is at a tempeture that you can stand it begin to place it on the roots starting at back of your head near your neck. Once all the roots are done go out to the rest of the hair. I like to have my sister do it for me but I have done it myself. Make sure the person or yourself is wearing gloves because it will stain your nails for weeks! Once you have it all in I would put it in a plastic bag. Depending on what color your hair is is the amount of time you want to leave it in for. My hair is a medium color so I leave it in for 80 mins. But I think it also depends on the color your dying it. If its black I'm sure you won't need as much time. When you rinse it out you will want a comb and a lot of conditioner! Shampoo it a few times and try combing it out....It will take awhile and it will probably rinse out more over the next couple of days! Also, if your have highlights then it probably won't dye over that. My mother had chemically treated hair and tried to do it and it didn't take what so ever. If, after you dye it with henna you want to dye it chemically then it won't take either! However, and I have never done it, on my henna directions it says to remove henna use boiled mineral oil! I don't know if you can use rose water but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt it and I think if would make it smell a whole lot better. I use rainbow henna....try going to http://www.rainbowresearch.com/html/henn... if you want to try some other henna products! Sorry this is so long and I know it seems complicated but really henna is a great thing! I will never use chemical hairdye again! It really makes hair very shinny and soft! Good luck and I hope you like it!
