Do the ceramic plates on hair straighteners go bad? Or need to be replaced?

i have had my ghd straighteners for 3 years and they are still good. it might depend on the brand, but i think they should last a good while as long as they don't get too much hair products on them.

As long as you get a good brand and clean them often, (Rub them with an old rag, make sure it's thick so you don't burn yourself, while they're hot), they should be fine for a good couple of years. My Ghd's have lasted a year and a half so far, and that's with using them daily, and my hairdresser's have lasted 3 years and she uses them on clients all day, every day!
