I have brown hair that is super thick and frizzy. My friends call it "curly" but it is so not curly i have a couple of ringlets but it is mostly frizzy. My hair also gets oil realy fast. I am a cmpetition dancer and I have to have straight hair for it! My straightener will sometimes keep it straight but not always. Plus it takes me over an hour to straighten it! I am thinking of perminently straightened but i dont know the pros and cons of that!?!?!?

Permanently straightening it is the way to go!! Cons- if you do it too often your hair does weaken and can become brittle, but doing it in a healthy cycle and giving your hair the follow up treatments it will need will help as well.

that kind of hair can always tend to be a real pain. in my opinion as a cosmetologist... i would go to a stylist and tell them that you want your hair relaxed. you dont have that as your only option though. you can get a perm with big rods. if you do that it will almost stretch the hair out i guess you could say to a bigger curl. but your best bet would be to relax it. relaxing doesnt make your hair that perfect straight shiny hair... but what it will do is calm down that frizz and make it a LOT easier to maintain. it's also very easy to keep up with. just go in every 4-6 weeks and have your roots touched up.. maybe even sooner.
and anything you do chemically to your hair will weaken it and partially damage it. but that's why they have conditioners and so on so forth. it wont damage to the point of falling out and stuff if the stylist does it right. but all that will be left after relaxing is flat ironing it. it will look gorgeous.
good luck.
